Jackie Trager died Friday doing what she did best; loving and protecting her family. Belovedly known as Aunt Pack, do to her proud 50+ year career as a stewardess for American Airlines Jackie lived a life of travel and adventure always willing to bring her family along for the fun.

 

Born at Research hospital in Kansas City to the famous “GoGo” and her husband Daddy Jack. Jack was a musical protégé and an active member of the vibrant jazz scene of Kansas city. He traveled the world showcasing his talents performing with Kay Kaiser’s Big Band through the USO during WWII. GoGo instilled a work ethic, grit, lust for life, and love of family that Jackie fully embraced. Jackie graduated from North Kansas City high school and attended college at Central Missouri State. Afterwards, she moved to California and started her career with American Airlines. Jackie ended her career as one of the 10 most senior flight attendants at American Airlines and would often regale stories to her family of the celebrities she would attend to as she worked out of LAX on routes to Hawaii, Europe, and Asia. Her celebrity interactions were not limited to her professional career. She lived a full vibrant life in Palm Springs California that involved interactions with Jackie Kennedy, Frank Sinatra, and many more. While maintaining a very busy work and social schedule, Jackie always prioritized family and especially the children of her only sibling (Mary Lou Battmer and Bob Battmer). Andy, Brady, and Jamie would spend upwards of a month each summer living with their aunt pack in Palm Springs, California. Never one meant for a sedentary life, Aunt Pack would take them to water parks, SeaWorld, DisneyLand, Universal Studios, the California mountains and countless other fun filled adventures. This fun and adventuring continued for her growing family as her nephews had children of their own. This family-centered fun and adventuring manifested itself in Jackie until her last breath. She was killed immediately in an automobile accident while driving with her 11-year old niece, Vivian Battmer. Aunt Pack died while heading on another adventure with her family; doing what she loved best. Aunt Pack died protecting her family; doing what she did best. While seriously injured, Vivian Battmer's injuries are non-life threatening and she will make a full recovery.

 

Jackie Trager is survived by her sister Mary Lou and her husband Bob Battmer, their three children Andy (Lek), Brady, and Jamie (Bridget) and her four grand nieces and nephews Vivian, Henry, Reid, and Sean.

 

A private celebration of life will be conducted by her family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Children’s Mercy Hospital.
