In Memory

Nancy Metzger (Guyer)

Nancy Metzger (Guyer)

Our beloved mother, Nancy Sue Guyer, is now finally at peace, having gone to meet The Lord on July 17, 2022. A caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many, she died from complications of COVID and pneumonia at the age of 79 after a long battle with chronic kidney disease.

Born to Charles and Margaret Metzger on Feb 2, 1943, she married John D. Chambers after graduating from North Kansas City High School. Together they had two children, Jonna Lynne Bird of Ozark, Mo. and John Drake Chambers II of St. Louis, Mo.

After raising her children, Nancy remarried Gary Guyer, with whom she lived happily for another 20 years.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margaret Metzger, her brother, Chuck Metzger, her first husband, John Chambers and her second husband, Gary Guyer.

She is survived by her daughter, Jonna Bird and husband, Brad, her son, John Chambers and wife Tha, grandson, Brady Choat and wife, Jessica, grandson, Maddox Chambers, sister, Karen Metzger, brother, John Metzger, sister-in-law, Carol Metzger and a great many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Throughout her life, Nancy enjoyed scrapbooking, sewing, quilting, puzzles, playing cards with her family and friends, travelling and, of course, her pet companions - Cracker, Gus, and Mr. Tux. She had a big, caring heart for the less fortunate and while she had little to give, she was a dutiful, regular supporter of many wonderful charities.

A small, graveside service is scheduled for 2pm on July 21st at White Chapel in Gladstone, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The family also asks you to consider an act of kindness in her honor.
