Roy Lee Kretzinger, 54, Topeka, KS, passed away Thursday, March 5, 1998, at his home, of cancer. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 9, at Wesley Hall in Aldersgate Village, Topeka; burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Mr. Kretzinger will lie in state after 8 a.m. Saturday, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Golf Association Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home, or to Aldersgate Village, 7220 SW. Asbury Dr., Topeka, KS 66614. Mr. Kretzinger was born April 20, 1943, in Oswego, KS, to Roy A. and Sylvia Jones Kretzinger. He graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1961. He lettered in football at Baker University, Baldwin City, KS, for four years, and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in biology in 1966. He did graduate work at the University of Missouri and Golden Gate University, San Francisco, CA. He served in the 1202 Support Squadron at Travis Air Force Base, Vacaville, CA, during theVietnam War. He was employed at the UNISYS Corporation for over 25 years. He was an architecture specialist. He was a member of Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church in Topeka, Orient Lodge 51 AF&AM, and Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies, and a member of the Arab Shrine Temple for over 25 years. He was also secretary-treasurer for the Topeka Golf Association, and a member of Zeta Chi Social Fraternity at Baker University. He married Susan Diane Ballinger on April 15, 1966, in Overland Park, KS; she survives of the home. Survivors also include his son, Mark David Kretzinger, and his wife, Tamara, Overland Park, KS; daughter, Carrie Elizabeth Kretzinger, of the home (a student at Bethany College); parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kretzinger, Parkville, MO; sister, Mary Ellen Fahel, Parkville, MO; and granddaughter, Sidney Nichol Kretzinger, Overland Park, KS.
